Induced order and collective excitations in three-singlet quantum magnets

چکیده
For even $f$-electron compounds (e.g., Pr, U) the ground state may be a nonmagnetic singlet, nevertheless magnetic order appears. The moments are induced simultaneously with ordering. This excitonic quantum magnetism is investigated by author within general three-singlet model. precursor soft excitons, transition temperature, and saturation moment derived. Furthermore, phase diagram possible first- second-order transitions critical behavior of exciton dispersions across obtained.

Collective excitations in asymmetric parabolic quantum wells
We study within the linear response theory the far-infrared optical absorption spectrum and the collective excitations of an asymmetric, wide parabolic AlxGa1−xAs quantum well, consisting of two half-parabolas of different curvatures, in the presence of an in-plane magnetic field. We employ a self-consistent-field approach in the local-density approximation using parameter values of a recent ex...
متن کاملCollective Excitations in InAs Quantum Well
Intersubband transitions in semiconductor quantum wells are studied using a density matrix theory that goes beyond the Hartree-Fock approximation by including the full second order electron-electron scattering terms in the polarization equation for the first time. Even though the spectral features remain qualitatively similar to the results obtained with the dephasing rate approximation, signif...
متن کاملCollective Excitations in Realistic Quantum Wires
We have used the Hartree-Fock Random Phase Approximation (HFRPA) to study the interacting electron gas in a quantum wire. The spectra of intersubband spin-flip excitations reveal a considerable red shift with respect to single-particle HF energies. That signals on appearance of collective intersubband spind-density excitations due to the exchange interaction. The long wavelength dispersions of ...
متن کاملSinglet excitations in pyrochlore: a study of quantum frustration.
We apply the contractor renormalization (CORE) method to the spin half Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the frustrated checkerboard and pyrochlore lattices. Their ground states are spin-gapped singlets which break lattice symmetry. Their effective Hamiltonians describe fluctuations of orthogonal singlet pairs on tetrahedral blocks, at an emergent low energy scale. We discuss low temperature thermo...
متن کاملSingle Particle and Collective Spin Excitations in Semimagnetic Quantum Wells
Collective and single-particle spin-flip excitations of a two-dimensional electron gas in a semimagnetic Cd1−xMnxTe quantum well are observed by resonant Raman scattering. Application of a magnetic field splits the spin-subbands and a spin-polarization is induced in the electron gas. Above some critical field, a collective spin-flip mode, which disperses with in-plane wave vector, dominates the...
